May 2004

Micron Explorer Transmitter and camcorder-mounted Receiver

Audio Engineering, manufacturer of the Micron range of high performance wireless audio equipment, is showing its new Explorer Series of wireless microphone systems on Stand No. 3213 at the 116th AES Convention, in Berlin (May 8 - 11), alongside its established Micron 700 Series. Continuing the company’s tradition of producing tough, broadcast-quality systems with real-world survivability, the Explorer Series has been introduced at a highly affordable price point, and comprises the TX700-A Pocket Transmitter and the SR550 Small Receiver, with numerous powering, camera-mounting and microphone options.

Micron Explorer products feature rugged metal construction, using high-strength aluminium extrusions, with robust long-life connectors. The Explorer systems are designed for operation with DV camcorders, by personal single-camera operators and videographers, as well as for ENG applications, film and drama location recording, and for creating high-quality mixer-to-camera wireless links. The Explorer systems are switchable across 100 channels, with a choice of RF bandwidths, to provide sound recordists and broadcasters with a high degree of operational flexibility.

Also on show at AES Berlin is the Micron 700 Series of diversity wireless microphone systems for ENG, film and drama. Available with up to 100 switchable channels, systems include the TX700 belt-pack and TX703 hand-held transmitters, complemented by the internally-powered SDR770 and externally-powered SDR730 miniature diversity receivers. Systems are available in single- and multi-channel configurations, including the portable twin-channel DDH2 Double Diversity Housing. Studio solutions include the MDR762 twin-diversity receiver, which can be used to create economical multi-channel systems, and offers comprehensive metering, transformer balanced outputs and data ports for external programming. The range also includes camera-mounting options, powering cables and lavalier microphones.

Audio Engineering’s extensive product portfolio also includes a range of wireless monitoring equipment that offers a particularly wide audio bandwidth for high intelligibility. With a track record spanning over three decades, and an enviable reputation for sonic quality and RF stability, the Micron range of high performance wireless audio systems is used throughout the world for ENG/EFP, location sound recording and broadcast.
